During her tenure in a local OB-Gyn office, Beckie laid her foundation in women’s healthcare, which kindled her interest in breastfeeding education. This interest, sparked by her interactions with expectant mothers, motivated her to explore lactation counseling, leading her to obtain certification through Lactation Education Resources (LER). This step was crucial in her quest to empower mothers with essential knowledge and support during one of the most pivotal times of their lives.
Beckie’s steadfast desire to complete 1,000 clinical hours with the Mom and Baby unit at Moses Taylor Hospital helped her met requirements to sit for the International Board of Certified Lacatation Consultants (IBCLC) certifcation, but also allowed her to engage directly with the practical aspects of lactation counseling. This hands-on experience has equipped her to offer empathetic, evidence-based support to new mothers facing breastfeeding challenges.
Beckie’s journey is inspirational, underscoring the significance of lifelong learning, professional development, and the pursuit of passion. Her career highlights the profound impact dedicated healthcare professionals can have on individuals and the broader community. Specializing in lactation counseling, she has become an indispensable resource for new mothers, contributing to healthier beginnings for mothers and their babies alike. Her remarkable journey serves as a testament to the power of following one’s calling and the positive change it can bring about.
Beckie currently sees patients at our Clarks Summit office, and well as telehealth.Â
