Vijay Prasad, MD

Dr. Prasad was born and raised in India. He finished his pediatric post graduate education and training before moving to New York City to complete his pediatric residency from Downstate Health Sciences University, and was board-certified in Pediatrics in 2000.

After completing two years of fellowship training in newborn medicine, from University of Illinois at Chicago, he went on to pursue MBA from university of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr Prasad has remained the Chair of Pediatrics and served as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Wilkes Barre General Hospital; and a pediatric faculty for family medicine residency program, Wilkes Barre, for more than a decade before he decided to join PAK Pediatrics in 2023. He believes that PAK Pediatrics provides the best care to the children of our community from Scranton to Mountaintop.

He has been taking care of children from newborn through adolescence for the last 20 years, and has been teaching students and residents throughout his career. He lives in Plains Township with his wife Nina, who is a pharmacist; and their dog Pablo. His two sons, Abhinav and Vedant graduated from Wyoming seminary and Wilkes Barre area school district. Besides taking care of the children and adolescents, he loves to read, teach, travel, do gardening, and play tennis. He looks forward to caring for the children and their families, primarily at the Mountain Top office, and is accepting new patients.
