Well-child visit schedule
Physical forms for school, sports, camps, daycare facilities, etc., unless otherwise indicated in writing on the physical form, are also typically completed as part of your child’s age-appropriate physical exam/well visit.
Immunizations
Standardized screenings
Aside from immunizations, we also perform a variety of screenings as your child ages, such as vision and hearing screenings. We follow the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for all children to receive standardized screening as part of their well-child care.
In the United States, 13% of children 3-17 years of age have developmental/behavioral disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, and attention-deficit /hyperactivity disorder. These screenings, recommended by CDC and Bright Futures, may or may not be covered by your health insurance. They may be applied to your deductible/coinsurance; therefore, you may be responsible for payment.
Developmental screenings
Behavioral screenings
Our pediatric well-visits also extend beyond your child’s physical well-being. During these exams, we will also check in on how they handle their mental health with behavioral screenings. During a well-visit, children 11 years and up will receive a depression screening.
The statistics on teenage suicide and depression have grown rapidly over the years. Teen suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for teenagers, so a teenager’s healthcare provider must be involved with their mental health. The nurse might ask the parent to step outside the exam room while asking your teenager about the depression screening to help encourage an open conversation.
