Well-child visit schedule

At PAK Pediatrics, we evaluate multiple aspects of your child’s health and well-being at their age and appropriate pediatric well-visits in our Kingston and Pittston offices. By staying on schedule with age-appropriate well-visits, you are helping your child develop more healthy and happy and managing and preventing any health concerns. View our Well-Visit Schedule below.

Physical forms for school, sports, camps, daycare facilities, etc., unless otherwise indicated in writing on the physical form, are also typically completed as part of your child’s age-appropriate physical exam/well visit.

Immunizations

Well visits and annual physicals are vital to preventing and detecting childhood illnesses and diseases. One of the most important parts of many child-well visits is crucial immunizations to protect against disease. Immunizations are typically performed during well-visits at certain stages in a child’s life. Not only are immunizations essential to help keep children safe from illnesses, but they’re also often required for children in schools to receive.

Standardized screenings

Aside from immunizations, we also perform a variety of screenings as your child ages, such as vision and hearing screenings. We follow the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for all children to receive standardized screening as part of their well-child care.

In the United States, 13% of children 3-17 years of age have developmental/behavioral disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, and attention-deficit /hyperactivity disorder.

These screenings, recommended by CDC and Bright Futures, may or may not be covered by your health insurance. They may be applied to your deductible/coinsurance; therefore, you may be responsible for payment.

Developmental screenings

Many children with developmental delays are not given proper treatment as early as possible. By bringing in your child for well-visits during the earliest months of their life, healthcare professionals have a better chance of detecting developmental delays early on. These screenings are administered at 9,18, 24, and 30-month well-visits and assist with defining motor skills, social-emotional, self-help, and expressive language.

Behavioral screenings

Our pediatric well-visits also extend beyond your child’s physical well-being. During these exams, we will also check in on how they handle their mental health with behavioral screenings. During a well-visit, children 11 years and up will receive a depression screening.

The statistics on teenage suicide and depression have grown rapidly over the years. Teen suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for teenagers, so a teenager’s healthcare provider must be involved with their mental health. The nurse might ask the parent to step outside the exam room while asking your teenager about the depression screening to help encourage an open conversation.
