Billing Specialist/Data Analyst
Job Title: Billing Office & Data Analysis Specialist
Reports To: Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Provides general billing and data analysis activities associated with the revenue cycle within established corporate guidelines by performing the following duties.
Duties and responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Billing Office Focus:
1. Applies knowledge of practice procedures to respond to incoming / outgoing correspondence and documents. *
2. Monitors and contacts patients and insurance companies aging accounts for delinquency through related reports on a regular basis. *
3. Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper. *
4. Answers questions from patients, staff and insurance companies.
5. Initiate and negotiate appropriate payment terms with accounts.
6. Process and review daily billing statements to ensure correct charges, dates and appropriate notations, and prepares statements for mailing. *
7. Responds to billing statement discrepancies. *
8. Processes all related billing statements and documentation as assigned. *
9. Processes and posts payments, and prepare daily deposit. *
10. Creates and maintains correspondence letters on for various incoming and outgoing correspondence. *
11. Operates standard office equipment to perform duties*
Data Analysis Focus:
1. Develop and implement effective record-keeping procedures, data reports, queries for specific key performance indicators*
2. Prepare, develop and update reports on key performance indicators, customer service, billing, and cost evaluation, and others*
3. Research and evaluate data from various sources to identify discrepancies and patterns, apply research to assist with decision making/outcomes*
4. Organize, present and explain data status reports to management as needed*
5. Recommend ways to improve healthcare outcomes quality and minimize costs*
6. Work and collaborate with management and other internal departments/external partners to implement change and assess data/results*
7. Prepare and organize policy guidelines, presentations and data based on findings*

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
