Virtual visits and telehealth
Telehealth is a “Virtual Visit” with one of our Pediatric providers via video conference.
We provide our patients with secure, HIPAA-compliant, telehealth virtual visits. While our team loves seeing patients in office setting, we understand there are circumstances in which this is not possible or convenient.
Telehealth Visits are appropriate for the following:
- Lab follow-up
- Lactation follow-up
- Medication Checks
- Behavioral Health
Since we can not listen to your child’s lungs or see in their ears with our current telehealth platform, so we cannot evaluate ear pain, coughs, or assess concerns that may require in-person evaluation, or laboratory testing such as urinary tract infection, strep, or influenza.
To schedule a telehealth visit
Please be aware, a telemedicine visit will be billed through your insurance, and as such, there may be a co-pay associated with the visit based on YOUR insurance company’s policy. During the COVID-19 pandemic, insurers have been changing/modifying their policies. Many are offering a $0 co-pay for a period of time. This may change month to month and PAK Pediatrics has no control over this.
Payment for coverage of telehealth in Northeastern PA may change. It is best to call your insurance provider for any needed clarifications. PAK Pediatrics is proud to use Doxy.me, a simple web-based platform that is safe, secure, and HIPAA-compliant. The platform requires a stable internet connection. We suggest stopping all other apps and videos on your internet connection during the call.
If you are new to our Telemedicine platform, please watch this brief video before your scheduled telehealth appointment to familiarize yourself with how it works.
No software download needed
You do not need to download any special apps for telehealth virtual visits in Northeastern PA. A visit may be done from any device with an internet connection and a camera, including your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
Before the visit, please have a flashlight or smartphone light available and a current temperature taken just prior to the telehealth visit. Additionally, be prepared to undress your child as needed so that we can accurately evaluate and diagnose their condition. If you have not had your child in the office recently, we request that you weigh your child at home prior to the telehealth visit as well.
PLEASE NOTE: During Virtual Check-In, please enter the patient’s first & last name along with their date of birth.
